Energy Storage Systems (ESS) – Solutions for Efficient Energy Management
Renewable energy presents new challenges for businesses and households, requiring intelligent solutions for electricity consumption management. Energy Storage Systems (ESS) are a powerful optimization tool, providing stability, reducing electricity bills, and enabling more efficient use of resources.
Прочети повечеAs an established EPC company with a history in the market, and through our manufacturing partners – leading companies in the industry, we offer high-tech battery solutions that meet the needs of households, industrial users, and large-scale grid operators. Our ESS technologies significantly reduce dependence on electricity distribution companies, reduce peak loads, provide energy independence, and add value to investment projects in the energy sector.
Residential Energy Storage Systems
ESS systems for homes, with capacities between 5 and 50 kWh, are designed for maximum energy efficiency and savings. They seamlessly integrate with photovoltaic systems, allowing users to use solar energy after sunset. Thanks to the ability to store electricity, households can reduce their bills by using cheaper energy accumulated during the day in the evening peak hours. The systems can provide backup power during outages, enhancing the reliability of the electricity supply.
Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Systems
For industrial and commercial applications, ESS solutions ranging from 50 kWh to 5 MWh offer significant advantages for businesses. Cost optimization through mechanisms like peak shaving and load shifting allows enterprises to reduce their operational costs by optimizing consumption during peak hours. Integration with renewable energy sources increases business efficiency and reduces long-term energy costs. Additionally, participation in the electricity market provides companies with the opportunity to generate additional revenue by selling surplus produced and stored electricity, ensuring optimal operation and even greater economic benefit. Our engineering expertise enables us to analyze specific data and characteristics of the facility, its energy consumption profile, administrative and other specific requirements and limitations, and based on these and other parameters, we offer the optimal solution through a techno-economic analysis. A common mistake is that many investors focus on the brand and model of equipment before understanding the optimal solution for them. Another common error is treating the implementation of ESS as a purely commercial transaction for purchasing equipment. The most important factor is choosing a partner who, in addition to design, supply, and installation, will provide adequate warranty and post-warranty service. Unlike conventional photovoltaic systems, which have a long enough service life and a predictable operational regime, energy storage systems are still in an early stage of development, lacking sufficient history and continuously evolving technologies. The risk of purchasing equipment that does not meet needs, or that may cause operational issues or lack reliable service, is significant, and the damage from such a decision could be huge. For every day or hour that a battery system or part of it is not functioning, the financial losses to the company can be precisely calculated. Our discerning clients do not ask about price first; they focus on finding the right solution, which we help them achieve for a successful and sustainable project.
Utility-scale Energy Storage
Large-scale ESS systems for energy operators, with capacities ranging from tens to hundreds of megawatt-hours, play a crucial role in stabilizing the grid. They balance supply and demand for electricity and facilitate the integration of solar and wind parks, not to mention their economic efficiency. With these technologies, grid operators can reduce losses and improve the overall efficiency of the energy system.
Our projects for Local Energy Storage Facilities with capacities of 100 MWh or more have provided us with significant experience and added focus on responsibility, not only for the implementation and commissioning phases but also for the operational phase, ensuring the reliable and seamless operation of the facilities.
Key Technologies and Features of ESS
LFP (LiFePO₄ – Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries are the dominant technology in ESS solutions due to their high thermal stability, long service life, and safety. Compared to alternatives like NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) and LCO (Lithium Cobalt Oxide), they offer higher resistance to thermal overload, making them the preferred choice for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Additionally, LFP batteries offer more than 6000 charge-discharge cycles while maintaining high efficiency, while other lithium technologies begin to degrade much earlier. Although NMC offers higher energy density, the cost of cobalt and safety limitations make it less suitable for stationary applications. LFP provides an optimal balance between longevity, safety, and performance, explaining why it is the standard in modern ESS solutions.
One of the most important aspects of ESS systems is their cooling, which affects the durability and performance of the batteries. Depending on the application and scale of the installation, two types of solutions are available. Air cooling is a more economical and easier-to-maintain option, suitable for household and small commercial systems. Water-cooled ESS systems provide better thermal management and are recommended for industrial and large-scale projects, where maintaining optimal temperatures during high loads is necessary. Their cells typically have a higher energy density, requiring uncompromising cooling.
Different electrical installations require a specific approach to integrating energy storage systems (ESS), with optimal solutions available for both single-phase and three-phase systems.
Single-phase installations are most commonly found in households and small commercial properties. ESS solutions for this type of system are fully adapted to the needs of residential users, providing effective energy management and backup power during outages. They are compatible with photovoltaic installations, allowing the stored energy to be used during periods of high consumption or low solar radiation.
Three-phase installations are standard for larger commercial and industrial facilities, where load distribution between three phases is required. ESS solutions for this type of system provide more balanced loading, optimize consumption, and reduce peak loads. They are designed to work with high-efficiency Energy Management Systems (EMS), making them ideal for businesses and manufacturing plants.
Regardless of the type of installation, ESS technology can be integrated to provide maximum efficiency, lower costs, and increased energy independence.
